For our second to third year at AUT (Auckland University of Technology), one of our assignments were to find a professional working environment and practice / work for 60 hours. I've decided to work with my lecturer, Hossein Najafi for his PHD Project and film, "Stella", which is still in work-in-progress.
For the Pre - Production stage, my role in Stella was Photogrammetry Coordinator, working with Senior Lecturer / Director of Bio Design Labs, Dr. David White who have guided us in 3D Laser Scanning and talented PHD student / Tutor, Ali Taheri who had a great knowledge for cameras and all the set-ups. Stella was one of the first projects that gave me experience to Photogrammetry, 3D Laser Scanning and FACS (Facial Action Coding System).
In Post - Production, I had a role as a Environment Artist - my main responsibility was to create a digitally destructible building which will be used for both close - up and wide - shots. My other roles were cleaning UVs and briefly teaching Speedtree to my fellow environment team.
Overall, this project gave me a great insight to Photogrammetry, FACS and 3D Laser Scanning as well as working in a professional environment with great, talented and open-minded people.
Below is a work-in-progress video which will require a password.
