November 2017 - January 2018
Client: Dr Sharad Paul
Contribution to work: Director, 3D Generalist
In this project, our aim was to create a short series of animation sequences that shows why Langer Lines won't be a great option for future cutaneous surgery since it leaves very prominent scars. Dr Sharad Paul wanted us to present his new Bio-dynamic Excisional Skin Tension Lines which will help patients have less visible scars after their recovery. As a director, my responsibility was to plan out the order of the sequences into storyboards, then give out specific tasks to the other two students who helped with the project. As a role of the 3D generalist:
- I modeled and textured nearly all of the 3D assets
- worked on all of the simulations of the elastin and collagen in Houdini
- Animated the scenes introducing Langer lines, the functionality of the tensiometer, the comparison of the impacts on elastin and collagen with incisional and excisional cuts, and the comparison between Langer lines and the Bio-dynamic Excisional Skin Tension Lines.
